Too long, don't read

or

Too long, didn't read

A post, comment and/or reply that is (perhaps) gratuitously, (over)indulgently long.
.... and so A happened to B, and C got the bad end if it really, but it's not as simple as that...

tl; dr

(expounding of above point)

OR

...omg, sorry but, tl; dr! :) I *do* agree with what you said about Y being in front of Z, though...

Too Long; Didn't Read

Used in reply to a post and/or comment or other written material that dragged on way too long about things that weren't very important.

Also sometimes used by trolls on posts that are longer than their attention span, or in an argument or flame war when one person can't come up with a comeback.

Also usable on your own lengthy post at the end followed by a quick summary of the above material as a courtesy to people who might not want to read the entire thing. Essentially the same as writing "In Summary," when used this way
1. Guy #1: Did you read that book for english class yet? I'm still on page 537.
Guy #2: tl;dr. The book is mostly made of random extraneous details. I bought the study notes instead, they were only 50 pages long.

2. Troll: lulz ur such a fag
SomeGuy1: It really is pathetic that you would make accusations about my sexuality instead of coming up with a legitimate argument. I wonder if you even watched the video before posting.
Troll: tl;dr LOL
SomeGuy1: How old are you, 5?

3. (lengthy post)
tl;dr, Cats are awesome.

Too long; Didn't read

Typically used when text height exceeds it's width.

The world's shortest book report.
The teacher wanted me to write my opinion of the book, so I wrote "tl;dr" and turned it in. For some reason I got an F.

This is shorthand for:

"Hey guys, look at me, I have nothing to contribute to the discussion, but I'll just let you know how ignorant and stupid I am."

Commonly used on internet forums.
Poster 1: *Tries to initiate a discussion*

Poster 2: tl;dr

Person 1: Hey, here's an idea - if you have nothing to say, don't post!

Too long, didn't read. Alternatively, "War and Peace".
My teacher wanted us to read "War and Peace", but I was all like "tl; dr".

a term originating from forums and text messages in respons to ebscenely long forum posts or texts. means 'too long, didn't read.' the original use has died out however, and it is now only ever used by argumentative cunts who have been outargued and don't want to admit it. as uch, it's current meaning (which would be the corrupted phrase) is 'can't think of an argument, gonna pretend i couldn't be arsed to read it.'
man 1: ...so yeah. learn your stuff, man, you're making yourself look stupid

man (?) 2: (thinks) shit, that's a damn good argument! i got nothin'! unless...

(types) tl;dr
